"Which of you, having a servant of him plowing or feeding cattle when he comes home from the field, that he might soon say: Go out at once and sit down to dinner," Is not, therefore, that he says to him, to judge what I eat for dinner, apron and serve me up until I eat and drink, and afterward you shall eat and drink "(Luke 17:7-8)?.
We have no problem identifying ourselves with the servant, and his duty to the Lord. No difficulties to tie our apron and the Lord to serve a table laden with praise - a good feast of worship. We love to feed our Lord! It is our biggest joy, our highest performance - to be the Lord's service.
But we have difficulties with the last part - the part of the Lord. "Then you shall eat!" That is too much for us to understand about it. We do not know how we should sit down after we've served him - make him the same joy that we experience when we have him have served! We rob our Lord for the pleasure to serve us.
We think that our Lord has enough joy in what we do for him. But there is so much more. He responds to our faith, and is happy when we do Buβe. He talks to the father about us and joy in our children's trust. But I am convinced that it is his gröβter needs, that he has left here on earth to have a mutual relationship. Such a requirement can meet an angel. Jesus wants to this speak on the battlefield.
Where am I arrived at the idea that Christ is lonely and speak such an extreme need has? It's all in the story of Christ as He appears to two disciples on the road to Emmaus. Jesus has just risen again and the same day were two disciples on the way from Jerusalem to Emmaus. They mourned for their dead master, but as he got closer, they did not recognize him. He wanted to talk, he had so much what he could tell them.
"It happened, as they talked and asked each other, Jesus himself drew near to them and went with them ... and started at Moses and all prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself. " (Luke 24:15, 27)
There could be no better experience for the disciples. They went away, saying, "... Did not our heart burn within us as he talked with us?" We remember the joy of the disciples. But what about the joy of Jesus? I see the risen Lord, tears streaming down his cheeks glorified, his heart filled with joy. He had met his needs were satisfied, and he looked very happy. He has served and has experienced for the first time in its shape better mutual community. He has poured out his lonely heart and it has been touched and their needs were met.
