The Old Testament is full miraculous of God's power: from the parting of the Red Sea, to the place where God speaks to Moses from the burning bush, and continue to Elijah, the Fire summons from heaven. All these were immediate miracle. The people involved they could see before their eyes, they feel and be inspired by them. And they kind of miracle, we want to see today what awe and amazement are inspire. We want God to tear open the heavens, coming down in our situation and repaired in an explosion force of heavenly things.
Both types of miracles - sudden and progressive - were witnessed in the two mass feeding of Christ. The cures which he performed were done immediately visible, by those who were present in those days, easily detectable. I think of those crippled man with the shriveled body, the suddenly heard an external, physical change, so that he could run and jump. Here was a miracle that all had to slip in and surprise, which saw it.
But the power that Christ did were ongoing miracle. Jesus brought is a simple prayer of blessing, without fire, thunder and earthquakes. He just broke the bread and dried fish, without giving a sign or a note of that just took place a miracle. However, in order to feed so many people, it had thousands of those bread and fish holes, give the whole day. And every single piece of bread and fish was part of the miracle.
accomplishes this way Jesus today many of his miracles in the lives of his people. We pray for a sudden miracle, but often is the Lord still at work and made piece by piece is a miracle for us, bit by bit. We may not be able to hear it or touch, but he is at work and made our salvation, beyond what we can see.
